About Coach

My racket sports background forms from years of playing on the US squash junior circuit and eventually at the collegiate level. I was a 2-time team captain for the University of Virginia, a consistently ranked top 10 team in the nation. During and after college, I coached squash athletes at the McArthur Squash center in Charlottesville, VA and as Head Professional at Great Harbor Yacht Club in Nantucket, MA. Through my playing and coaching experience, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the unique physical and mental demands of playing high level racket sports. I also know how debilitating injury can be to performance and mental well being. This inspired me to study Kinesiology, the science of movement and attain my strength and conditioning certification.

I have been an on-court squash for over four years now. I enjoy the sport but more than anything, I love being able to connect with younger athletes. It is beyond rewarding to see them grow as athletes and as individuals. I believe the coach has a major role in this development. Furthermore, I feel strongly this journey extends beyond sport-specific skill. It is a comprehensive education that teaches athletes to be more in touch with their body and mind. Young athletes need help managing the physical and mental stress of intense sport. They need a proper warmup that prepares their body for elite athletic movement, a cool-down routine that addresses their specific mobility deficits, and a plan that instills satisfaction and longevity in their sport. My aim is for this program to include those aspects of sport along with the complex strength and conditioning needs of a racket sport athlete. I feel these are components frequently overlooked in youth sports and I hope my education and personal experience can help fill this gap for athletes in the program.
